Good Samaritan Program

Pet Assisted Therapy

Through the Humane Society’s Good Samaritan Program, we partner with a local veterinary practice to ensure that emergency care is provided to animals that are injured or ill and an owner/caretaker is not known at the time the animal is found. Attempts are made to find the owner. When those attempts are unsuccessful, the Society works with the Animal Shelter to find an adopter. (Because a number of the animals coming to us through the Good Samaritan Program have been hit by a vehicle, humane euthanasia is frequently the most caring thing that can be done.) This program, as with all our programs, is funded by donations.
